2014 Photography Workshop Schedule at the Photographer's Lounge

It's never too early to start planning your 2014 trips. We have finally finalized our schedule and we are spanning the globe, headed back to some old favorites and hitting some new locations that will be exciting...

February 2014 - We are headed back to Iceland. This time for more glacier and iceberg photography opportunities and night shoots of the northern lights...

March 2014 - We are going to heat things up and head back to one of my favorite locations on earth... Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains. I have wanted to head back here for years, and I finally created a workshop that I know you will love. From the Medina to the Sahara desert, the photography opportunities will be fantastic.

April 2014 - Its back to Africa we go... this time to the skeleton coast for two back to back workshops in Namibia... the gem of Africa. These workshops will encompass a traditional safari in the north and a trip to the south into the Namib desert.

August 2014 - its a trip to the west coast of Canada... we are headed to Tofino in August, a time of year the locals refer to as "fog"ust. Prepare for landscape and seascape photography that will blow your mind... The area is a UNESCO protected area and you will see wildlife and landscapes that are iconic in our Canadian folklore...

September 2014 - Its going to be a busy month... We are headed back to the City of Lights, Paris. Two back to back workshops will present the photographer with classical scenes and the chance to photograph one of the most photogenic cities in the world.

September 2014 - Its back to Mongolia. The 2013 trip sold out and in 2014 we are headed back to the Golden Eagle Festival in the Gobi desert. Join us for one of the oldest traditions on earth, in one of the most exotic locations we will visit in 2014.

October 2014 - Its lighting and landscapes in Venezuela. From the shores of Lake Maracaibo to the photogenic micro climates in the Andes Mountains... you will participate in a workshop you will never forget.

Paris has the reputation of being the most beautiful and romantic of all cities

Paris has the reputation of being the most beautiful and romantic of all cities, brimming with historic associations and remaining vastly influential in today's culture, art, fashion, and design. Dubbed the City of Light and Capital of Fashion, it is home to the world's finest and most luxurious fashion designers and cosmetics, such as Christian Dior, Yves Saint-Laurent, Guerlain, Lancôme, L'Oréal, Clarins, etc.

A large part of the city, including the River Seine, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is just begging to be captured through your camera lens. The city contains numerous iconic landmarks, such as the world's most visited tourist sites the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, Moulin Rouge etc, making it the most popular tourist destination in the world with over 40 million tourists annually.

And once you arrive, you will soon discover (as so many others before you have) that Paris is enchanting almost everywhere, at any time, and during any season. The city has this way of drawing you in and transporting you to another time; a time of monochrome images, stunning street photography and creative artistry that produced some of the most admired artefacts, paintings and photos of the modern era.

In September of 2014 I am returning for my 7th visit, but this time I have the honor of spending it with two of best photographers of our time, Denise Ippolito and Deborah Sandidge.

Together, we will be running two, one week workshops These workshops are designed to introduce you to the city, its iconic structures and its culture. We have planned an itinerary that will take you through the Parisian labyrinth to see the stunning buildings, gardens and cityscape vistas at the best time of day and night to photograph them.

In week one, students will have the opportunity to learn from Deborah's artistry and her long exposure cityscape photography, photography that can only be described as masterful. Her photographic and digital darkroom abilities are perfectly matched for Paris, and students will leave her workshop filled with an abundance of knowledge and confidence.

During the second week, students will have the opportunity to learn both photographic and editing techniques from the very talented, Denise Ippolito. Denise's reputation as one of today's best photographic workshop leaders is well respected, and her students often walk away from her workshops having all of their photographic and editing expectations surpassed.

We will be headed to Paris in September. That time of year that the majority of tourists have returned home, the kids are back in school and the daytime summer humidity has broken. Speaking from my own experiences, early autumn is the perfect time of year to visit Paris...

Our days will start in the bohemian district of Montmarte... from there we will travel as a group to various locations so that you can experience all that Paris has to offer. During our workshop you will photograph many of the traditional icons that dot the Parisien landscape. But because we have knowledge of the city, we will take you to some out of the way locations that offer beautiful photographic opportunities and leave your memory cards full of images that you will always cherish.

One other advantage of attending our workshop is that your spouse can come along at no cost if he or she is not a photographer. They can come on our walks or sleep in and enjoy a leisurely day, meeting up with us upon our return.
